In her mature, precise voice, Gibson gives “Pride and Prejudice” a faithful reading that measures up to her high standards of performance. Voice inflection, pitch, and skillful phrasing result in expressive and distinct voices for both men and women. Both audiobooks are recommended; each offers a performance that is faithful to Austen's witty and subtly ironic style. If only one can be purchased, however, my choice would be Gibson's narration; her rich, formal tone provides the more enjoyable listening experience over a sustained period of time.
