Audio Book Contractors publishes and distributes unabridged classic books on cassettes and CDs. We sell to individuals, as well as to institutions. Through a partnership with Audible.com, many of our titles are available as downloads.
Our current library contains over 700 titles by more than 270 authors. We specialize in classic novels, plays, poetry, short story collections, and children’s books. A fun fact: If you listened for 24 hours, seven days a week, it would take you over 40 weeks to hear all of our recordings!
We offer one of the largest selections of unabridged audio classic books available today. Most of these works have endured for centuries, and we feel it’s important to keep them alive for both our current customers and for future generations. All of our titles are available on cassette. Currently, over 250 of our titles are available on CD and as downloads through Audible.com. That number will be steadily increasing. We also strive to keep our prices as low as possible. We want recorded books to be affordable for our customers. We will continue to monitor our competitors to offer you the best value that we can.
Although many believe the tape format to be obsolete, we carry titles on cassettes because we receive enough customer interest to warrant their continued production. While we are expanding our digital library and our titles on CD, we have no intention of discontinuing our extensive collection of classics on cassettes. If you know of someone who prefers books on cassette, we would appreciate it if you referred them to us.
The most expedient way to order CDs or cassettes is through our website. For customers who prefer the printed page, we can mail you a current listing of our titles and their prices. There is no charge for this listing. We have a continually expanding inventory of titles on hand and will send your cassettes or CDs upon receipt of your order. You may also purchase our products at Amazon.com, but delivery time depends upon their in-stock inventory. Barring any special in-house sales event, the retail price for new (unused) books is the same whether you order from us or from Amazon. Customers who request to be added to our mailing list will be notified of any special in-house promotions.
The books themselves that we record are in the Public Domain in the United States. However, our recordings of those books are copyrighted and may not be used by any outside source for any reason without express written consent from Audio Book Contractors. To receive consent, please contact us at info@audiobookcontractors.com. Duplication and distribution of our cassettes and CDs by any party or parties outside of Audio Book Contractors is strictly prohibited and may be subject to legal action.
We can ship orders outside of the continental United State for an additional cost. That cost is determined by the freight to the destination country. To receive a quote for an international shipment, e-mail us at info@audiobookcontractors.com with the requested title(s), their format (cassette or CD), and the address of their destination. We will calculate and e-mail you a delivered price for your order. Once you receive our quote, you are not obligated to purchase the book(s).
You can pay for website purchases with Master Card or Visa using our secure checkout process. We do not share any of your personal information with anyone outside of Audio Book Contractors. However, if you prefer to pay by check, contact us at info@audiobookcontractors.com and we will process your order very easily. There is no extra fee for paying by check.
An ever-growing number of our titles are available through Audible.com, which you can access here or by clicking on the Audible.com button on our home page. Audible.com determines the price of downloads of our books and any special sales advertised on our website do not apply to any of our titles on Audible.com or through any distributor other than ourselves.
We offer a discount to schools, libraries, book retailers, hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Other organizations may also be eligible for a discount. To request reduced pricing, please email us at info@audiobookcontractors.com.
Within the first year of purchase, should any of our cassettes or CDs prove to have a manufacturer’s defect or be lost or damaged, we will replace it free of charge. If a cassette or CD is lost or damaged after the first year, there is a $6 charge for each replacement cassette or CD plus a $3 charge for shipping. If you have any problems, complaints or compliments regarding our books please contact us. Your feedback is very important to us.
We no longer offer rental services on any of our books.
We are not seeking new talent at this time. We may, however, require additional narrators as we expand our library. If you are interested in narrating for us, please e-mail your resume to us at info@audiobookcontractors.com.
